The Luxe series by Anna Godbersen

April 8th, 2010 | By

Currently Finished reading The Luxe series, set in 1899, turn of the century, Manhattan society. The book reflects the turn of the century and the change in society. It took me a while to start the book, and it was a bit difficult to get into it.  But once I started, I couldn’t stop.  My favourite book is the last “Splendor”, and I was pleasantly surprised by some of the plot’s conclusions: mainly, Diana Holland’s final decision and, Penelope and Henry’s resolve.

Finally, I recommend this book to those who enjoy reading about high society, historical fiction, romantic drama, and female relationships.

  1. The Luxe
  2. Rumors
  3. Envy
  4. Splendor

Books: Social Networking Bookclubs

September 24th, 2009 | By

Everybody knows I’m a serious bookworm.  I almost never leave my house without some kind of reading material.  I’ve recently joined an online book community to keep track of my reading list, read personal reviews and join fun groups like ‘the 50 book challenge’.  There are many communities, but I liked Shelfari most.  You can also link it to your Facebook, so your FB friends can discuss with you.  Although, I haven’t managed to work that out just yet.  The default FB book club is weRead, which is actually pretty good too.  I just found their adding system a bit tedious.

I suggest you check out each one and see which one fits your style and your needs (i.e. if you only want to connect through FB).  Here are some popular ones to try out: Shelfari; WeRead; Listal; GoodReads; BookArmy; and, LibraryThing.

I don’t endorse any one in particular, but if you do end up on Shelfari, add me!
